Privacy Notice

Last updated: 9 July 2026

1. Who we are

Truing (truingdata.com) provides UK company matching and registry signals. The Service is operated by Prashant Pandey, trading as Truing. This notice explains what personal data we process and why. Contact: privacy@truingdata.com.

2. Data we process about you (our users)

  • Account data: email address, hashed password (scrypt — we never store plaintext), API keys.
  • Usage data: requests made, credits consumed, timestamps — used for metering, billing, rate limiting, and abuse prevention.
  • Payment data: handled by Paddle as merchant of record; we receive transaction references, never full card details.

Lawful basis: performance of contract (providing the Service) and legitimate interest (security, abuse prevention).

3. Public-register data we process (about companies and their officers)

The Service processes information from the Companies House public register — including company officers' names and roles, which are personal data — together with information companies publish on their own websites. Lawful basis: legitimate interest in providing business intelligence from public sources, consistent with the purpose for which the register is published. This data is available under the Open Government Licence v3.0 (source: Companies House).

We do not enrich register data with private or special-category data, and we do not sell personal contact details.

4. Cookies and local storage

The portal stores a session token in your browser's local storage to keep you signed in. We may also use strictly necessary cookies or local storage for security, checkout, and account access. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

5. Retention

Account and billing records are kept while your account is active and as required for tax and accounting. Usage logs are retained for up to 24 months. Match results and register-derived records are retained as part of the Service's dataset, with dates recorded so stale results are re-verified rather than served silently.

6. Sharing

We share data with processors necessary to run the Service (hosting, database, payment processing). We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data where required by law.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk). Company officers whose public-register data appears in our results may contact us regarding their data; note that the underlying register is maintained by Companies House.

8. Changes

We will update this notice as the Service evolves and note the date above.
